Hollie was born and raised in the rural prairies, and has
lived the last 36 years in Winnipeg. She had a career in teaching, specializing
in Early Childhood Education, helping to create new curricula, and later
teaching at a university.
The journey through the illness and death of her husband in the late eighties brought forth a vision for her of starting a healing centre. Over the next decade, she found others of like mind and spiritual purpose, and together they began The Sanctuary. Since its incorporation in 1998, she has been the president, the treasurer, and one of The Keepers of The Sanctuary.
Hollie’s spiritual work includes: helping to run a cancer support group for 11 years, being medical advocate for several elderly or disadvantaged persons, channelling The Brotherhood of Love, Light, Learning and Laughter, using crystal bowls to practice acoustic therapy with Heather and Gerri, doing sessions for the healing of past lives, spiritual counselling, leading meditations, and any other team projects that the Keepers are doing.
She is a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and the flavour of these roles sometimes emerges in her relationships with people who come to The Sanctuary. Her pleasures include baking cakes, reading, walking, and grand-parenting.
Interview with Hollie Andrew about the Winter Solstice & Sacred Celebration of Sound 7:00 Fri. Dec. 21, 2012
Crystal bowls, also called crystal singing bowls, are made from quartz crystal that was crushed and heated to very high temperatures. The crystal undergoes this process in order to become a singing bowl and express the potent powers of crystal and sound united in one tool.
Sound also works to purify and strengthen the energy of any space, as crystal bowls are, in essence, singing bowls made of a finer vibration material - the quartz crystal.
